New Mexico Reports 175 New COVID-19 Cases and Five Deaths

Santa Fe County ranks third in state with 18 new cases, seven from the 87507 ZIP code

New Mexico health officials today reported 175 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 201,868. The health department has designated 187,238 of those cases as recovered.

Bernalillo County had 43 new cases, followed by San Juan County with 37 and Santa Fe County with 18, seven of which were in the 87507 ZIP code, which ranked third in the state for the most new cases today.

The health department, City of Santa Fe, Chainbreaker Collective, Sirius Cycle and Safe Routes to School will host a vaccination event from 11 am to 3 pm tomorrow, May 22, at the Southside Library as part of Santa Fe Bike Month. Pre-registration is not required in order to be vaccinated. Daily vaccination events can also be found via the DOH vaccination calendar.

The state also announced five additional deaths; there have now been 4,131 fatalities.

As of today, 144 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

Currently, 63.8% of New Mexicans have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 53.4% are fully vaccinated. In Santa Fe County, 72.2% have had at least one dose and 60.6% are fully inoculated.

  • A male in his 60s from Bernalillo County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 70s from Bernalillo County who had underlying conditions and was a resident of the Sandia Ridge Center in Albuquerque
  • A male in his 90s from Bernalillo County
  • A female in her 50s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 70s from Eddy County who was hospitalized
