New Mexico Reports 247 New COVID-19 Cases and 11 Deaths

The statewide modeling report shows cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to decline, but transmission has increased slightly in some regions

COVID-19 transmission in New Mexico has ticked up just slightly, according to this week's modeling report, released today, with the state's gating criteria dashboard showing effective transmission at 1.04—just under the target of 1.05.

Breaking down transmission to regions of the state, the uptick appears to reflect slight increases in the northeast and southeast regions, both of which have risen above target, as well as a lesser increase in the metro area. Nonetheless, the model shows statewide cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to decline across the state.

New Mexico health officials today reported 247 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 185,542. The health department has designated 148,641 of those cases as recovered.

Bernalillo County accounted for 47% of today's cases—100 cases—followed by Doña Ana County with 36 and Sandoval County with 18. Santa Fe County had nine cases.

The state also announced 11 additional deaths; there have now been 3,740 fatalities.

As of today, 199 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*
