In case you haven't heard, Feb. 14 is V-Day--not just Valentine's Day, but also the 15th anniversary of the day dedicated to ending violence against women. SFR had the privilege of dropping in on a flashmob dance practice for next week's event in Santa Fe.
---
This year's V-Day is particularly special. It's the 15th anniversary of a day Eve Ensler—the author of the Vagina Monologues—created as what organizers call "a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls."
But the theme, "One Billion Rising," is unique, and particularly relevant to New Mexico.
From the Rising website:
In Santa Fe, local organizers are planning testimonials and a large-scale flashmob at the Roundhouse, followed by a day of activities (and more dancing!) in the Railyard. Anyone can join (trust me, it's fun), and rehearsals for the flashmob dance will continue this week and next.

Below is a short clip from Saturday's practice at Together Strong Fitness. Leading the dance is Santa Fe local and V-Girl (she's one of just 15 around the world) Audri Roybal, who also stars in this instructional video if you'd prefer to learn the dance at home.
