New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 23,408

Health officials report 259 new cases over the weekend and 11 more deaths

Over the weekend, New Mexico health officials reported 259 new positive tests for COVID-19—146 on Saturday and 113 on Sunday—bringing the statewide total so far to 23,408.

Bernalillo County added 41 cases over the weekend, followed by Lea County with 33 and Doña Ana County with 29. Santa Fe County had 15 additional cases reported over the weekend: five on Saturday and 10 on Sunday.

The state also reported 11 more deaths: eight on Saturday and three on Sunday, ranging in age from a man in his 20s in McKinley County to a man in his 90s in Doña Ana County. There have now been 714 fatalities.

As of today, 109 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

  • A male in his 60s from Doña Ana County who had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 70s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 90s from Doña Ana County who had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 30s from Eddy County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 60s from Rio Arriba County who had underlying conditions.

Statewide cases

Over the weekend, state news releases issued the following corrections to statewide totals: On Saturday, the health department reported previously reported numbers that included four cases that have been identified as duplicates: one in Bernalillo County, one in Doña Ana County, one in Lea County and one in McKinley County. On Sunday, the state said previously reported numbers had included four cases later identified as duplicates: one in Bernalillo County, one in McKinley County, one in Quay County and one in Rio Arriba County. Additionally, one case was not lab confirmed in Bernalillo County and two previous cases have been identified as out-of-state residents: one in Bernalillo County and one in Santa Fe County.

County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.
