New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 23,160

Health officials report 175 new cases and six more deaths

New Mexico health officials today reported 175 additional positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the statewide total thus far to 23,160. The health department has now designated 10,182 of those cases as recovered.

Today's new cases—two fewer than yesterday—brings the state closer to a new gating target of 168 for daily cases on a seven-day rolling average. As reported yesterday during a weekly COVID-19 news briefing, New Mexico is now meeting seven out of eight of its public health gating criteria.

Bernalillo and Doña Ana counties led with new cases: 40 and 30, respectively. McKinley County had 17 new cases. In Santa Fe County, there were nine new ones.

The state also announced six additional deaths; there have now been 703 fatalities.

As of today, 125 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

  • A male in his 90s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized, had underlying conditions and was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society facility in Las Cruces.
  • A male in his 50s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 70s from McKinley County who had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 70s from Rio Arriba County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 30s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 70s from San Juan County who had underlying conditions.
