New Mexico Reports 218 New COVID-19 Cases and Seven More Deaths

Santa Fe County has eight new cases and an additional death

New Mexico health officials today reported 218 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 192,152. The health department has designated 173,981 of those cases as recovered.

Bernalillo County led with 70 new cases, followed by Doña Ana County with 29 and Sandoval County with 22. Santa Fe County had eight new cases.

The state also announced seven additional deaths, including one in Santa Fe County: a female in her 90s who was a resident of the Willow Wood Assisted Living in Santa Fe. Today's fatalities also include a man in his 20s from McKinley County who was not listed as having any underlying conditions. There have now been 142 deaths in Santa Fe County and 3,949 statewide.

As of today, 94 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

Also as of today, the health department reports 46.7% of New Mexicans 16 years and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 29.6% are fully inoculated. In Santa Fe County, 44.3% have had at least one shot and 24.7% are fully vaccinated.

  • A second female in her 70s from Bernalillo County who was hospitalized, had underlying conditions and was a resident of the Spanish Trails Rehabilitation Suites in Albuquerque
  • A male in his 80s from Bernalillo County who had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 80s from Eddy County who had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 20s from McKinley County
  • A female in her 70s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A female in her 90s from Santa Fe County. The individual was a resident of the Willow Wood Assisted Living in Santa Fe.

According to a health department news release, previously reported numbers included 11 cases that have been identified as duplicates (two in Doña Ana County, one in Luna County, one in McKinley County, one in Otero County, one in Rio Arriba County, three in San Juan County, one in Santa Fe County and one in Sierra County)—these have now been corrected. County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.
