New Mexico Reports 633 New COVID-19 Cases

New Mexico health officials today reported 663 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 43,826.

Bernalillo County led today's cases with 273 new ones, followed by Doña Ana County with 97. Santa Fe County had the third highest number of new cases with 46.

The most recent epidemiology report on the state's cases breaks down the average daily case rate per 100,000 for each county, as indicated below.

The state also announced 11 additional deaths from Bernalillo, Curry, Doña Ana, Eddy, Roosevelt and Taos counties; there have now been 991 fatalities.

As of today, 313 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.* An Oct. 26 health department report on hospitalizations counts 257 hospitalizations in the week prior. Of the total 3,950 people who had been hospitalized with COVID-19 throughout the pandemic, 684 of them, or 17.3%, died. The chart below shows those cumulative hospital admissions by county per 100,000 population.

Tomorrow at 1:30 pm, New Mexico Human Services Department Secretary David Scrase, Presbyterian Health Chief Medical Officer Jason Mitchell and Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center Chief Medical Officer David Gonzales will provide a COVID-19 modeling webinar update in a news conference, which will stream live on the New Mexico Human Services Department's Facebook page.
