New Mexico Reports 389 New COVID-19 Cases

The state also announced four additional deaths

New Mexico health officials today reported 389 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 33,362. The health department has designated 18,791 of them as recovered.

Bernalillo County continues to drive the state's new cases with 130 new ones today, followed by Doña Ana County with 83. Eddy County had the third highest number of cases: 21. Santa Fe County had 19 new cases, bringing the total number of cases here to 1,199 so far, of which the health department has designated 706 as recovered.

The state also announced four additional deaths from Bernalillo, Doña Ana, Eddy and Lincoln counties; there have now been 915 fatalities.

As of today, 127 people are hospitalized with COVID-19—seven more than yesterday.*

New fatalities

  • A male in his 70s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 60s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 70s from Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions. The individual was a resident of Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad.
  • A female in her 80s from Lincoln County. The individual was hospitalized.

According to a state news release, previously reported numbers included four cases that have been identified as duplicates: two in Bernalillo County, one in Roosevelt County and one in Santa Fe County; four cases that were not lab-confirmed: two in Bernalillo County, one in Chaves County and one in Doña Ana County; and two cases that have been identified as out-of-state residents: one in Doña Ana County and one in Luna County—these all have now been corrected. County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.
