NM Reports 231 new COVID-19 Cases Over Weekend

The state also had eight additional deaths

New Mexico health officials over the weekend reported 231 new COVID-19 cases: 164 on Saturday and 67 on Sunday, bringing the statewide total number of cases so far to 27,579.

Doña Ana County led with 43 new cases, followed closely by Bernalillo County with 42 over the weekend. Chaves County had 24 new cases. Santa Fe County had five new cases total over the weekend: three on Saturday and two on Sunday.

The New Mexico Corrections Department on Saturday reported 18 new cases among state inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility.

The state also announced eight additional deaths: six on Saturday and two on Sunday from Bernalillo, Chaves, Doña Ana and San Juan counties. There have now been 849 total fatalities.

As of today, 64 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

  • A female in her 50s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 80s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
