New Mexico Reports 81 New Cases

Santa Fe County had 11 new cases today—the third highest in the state

New Mexico health officials today reported 81 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total thus far to 26,842 cases. The health department has designated 14,470—approximately 54%—of those cases as recovered.

Bernalillo County led with new cases: 22 of them, followed by Luna County with 15 cases and Santa Fe County with 11. The New Mexico Corrections Department also reported 11 new cases among inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility.

New Mexico's daily case count on a seven-day rolling average—one of the state's gating criteria—has fallen to 89, well below the threshold set of 168 cases daily. The state also continues to meet seven of its eight criteria, but is falling slightly below its 5,000 tests-per-day goal with 4,473 tests a day—also on a seven-day rolling average.

No additional deaths were reported today; there have been 823 total fatalities.

As of today, 60 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*
