New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 26,563

Health officials report 137 new cases and two additional deaths

New Mexico health officials reported 137 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the statewide total to 26,563.

Cases continue to grow in Chaves County with 40 new positive test results, followed most closely by Lea County with 16 and Bernalillo County with 13. Santa Fe County had six new cases. Heat maps from yesterday's COVID-19 news conference show hot spots, indicated by darker shades of red for more cases, with the map on the right indicating roughly the last week's positive tests.

The state also announced two additional deaths from Bernalillo and Lea counties, the latter of which was a woman in her 30s; there have now been 818 fatalities.

As of today, 73 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

New fatalities

  • A female in her 70s from Bernalillo County who had underlying conditions and was a resident of Brookdale Juan Tabo in Albuquerque
  • A female in her 30s from Lea County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
