New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 26,268

Health officials report 92 new cases and six additional deaths

As recently reported positive test results for COVID-19 indicate, cases have been declining across all of New Mexico's public health regions, according to the state's newest modeling report.

Today, New Mexico health officials reported 92 new COVID-19 cases (twice as many as yesterday), led by Doña Ana County with 17, Chaves County with 16 and Lea County with nine new cases. Santa Fe County had four new cases. The new cases bring the total number of cases so far in New Mexico to 26,268, of which 13,928 have been designated as recovered by the health department.

From recent new cases, the state says there is some indication of increasing travel, along with visits to restaurants and breweries.

The state also reported six additional deaths today from Bernalillo, Doña Ana, Lea and Sandoval counties; there have now been 813 total fatalities.

As of today, 77 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.* According to the modeling report, prior to today, fewer than 75 people had been hospitalized each day since mid-August.

Health officials report a slight uptick in the percentage of patients hospitalized last week in the 35-to-64-year-old age group compared with people 65-years-old and higher.
