New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 26,144

On Labor Day, health officials report 46 new cases and four more deaths

New Mexico health officials today reported 46 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases so far to 26,144.

Bernalillo County had 13 new new cases, followed by McKinley County with six and Doña Ana and Lea counties with five. Santa Fe County had two more cases reported today.

The state also announced four more deaths from Bernalillo, McKinley and San Juan counties; there have now been 807 fatalities.

As of today, 65 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

New cases

  • 5 new cases in Doña Ana County

New fatalities

  • A female in her 40s from Bernalillo County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A female in her 60s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 60s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A female in her 50s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions

Statewide cases

According to a state news release, previously reported numbers included five cases that have been identified as duplicates (one in Bernalillo County, one in Curry County, one in Eddy County, one in Sandoval County and one in Valencia County); three cases that were not lab confirmed (one in Chaves County, one in Eddy County and one in McKinley County); and one case in McKinley County that was identified as an out-of-state resident. These have now been corrected for the county totals, which are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.
