New Mexico health officials today reported 317 new positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the statewide total thus far to 18,475—the health department has designated 7,156 of those cases recovered.

The new cases continue the growth in Bernalillo County, which has 96 new cases, followed by 42 in Doña Ana County and 24 in McKinley County. Today's cases also include the first ones for New Mexico Corrections inmates at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Cibola County and the Northeast New Mexico Correctional Facility in Union County.

Santa Fe County had 12 new cases, bringing the total here so far to 474, 192 of which the health department has designated as recovered.

The state also announced five new deaths from Bernalillo, Curry, Doña Ana and San Juan counties—including a man in his 30s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions; there have been 601 total fatalities.

As of today, 161  people are hospitalized with COVID-19.*

  • A female in her 70s from Bernalillo County who was a resident of Spanish Trails Rehabilitation Suites facility in Albuquerque and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 60s from Curry County who was hospitalized
  • A male in his 60s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
  • A male in his 30s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions
