New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 12,147

Health officials report 168 new cases and four more deaths

New Mexico health officials today reported 168 additional positive test results for COVID-19, bringing the statewide total thus far to 12,147.

Bernalillo County led in new cases with 36, followed by McKinley County, which had 28 and then Doña Ana County, which had 21. Santa Fe County had three new cases and has now had a total of 237, of which 129 have been designated as recovered.

The Otero County Prison facility had five new cases among New Mexico Corrections Department inmates, bringing the total number of state prisoners at that facility to 443.

Statewide, as of today, 127 people are hospitalized and the health department has designated 5,393 COVID-19 cases as recovered.*

The state also announced four new deaths from Luna, McKinley and San Juan counties; there have been 497 total fatalities.

New fatalities

  • A male in his 70s from Luna County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 50s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 70s from McKinley County who was hospitalized, had underlying conditions and was a resident of the Red Rocks Care Center in Gallup.
  • A male in his 70s from San Juan County who was a resident of the BeeHive Homes facility in Farmington.

According to a state news release, previously reported numbers included one case in Bernalillo County that has been identified as a duplicate; one case in Bernalillo County that has been identified as an out-of-state resident; and one case in Sierra County that was not lab confirmed; these have now been corrected. County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.
