New Mexico health officials today reported 128 new positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 10,694.

McKinley County had the most new cases with 32, followed by 22 in Bernalillo County.

As of today, 139 people are hospitalized and the health department has designated 4,742 COVID-19 cases as recovered.*

Statewide hospitalizations have been steadily decreasing over the last 10 days, going from 197 on June 10 to 139 today.

Santa Fe County had five new cases and now has 201 total cases; as of yesterday, 113 had been designated as recovered. Since June 9, Santa Fe has had 51 new cases. In response to a query from SFR, a health department spokesman said none of the cases between June 9 and June 21 (the time period for which SFR inquired) were connected to either visitors or travel.

"There is no particular distribution of exposures from that time period," David Morgan writes via email, "and there are no travel-associated cases that stand out as leading to any spike in cases for Santa Fe County. As always, masking and distancing, however, are among our best offense against continued spread of this virus."

Testing for the virus continues to increase in Santa Fe County. Between June 8 and June 21, 983 tests were performed here.

And for the first time since the end of March, the state reported no new deaths in its daily count. The total number of fatalities remains at 469.
