Pandemic Unemployment Waivers Winding Up

New Mexicans who lost their jobs or had their hours reduced due to COVID-19 have been able to waive the normal work-search requirement for receiving unemployment.

That waiver will end on July 18, 2020, according to a news release from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. People receiving benefits will be required to verify they conducted at least two work searches each week when submitting their certifications. On July 25, the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation of $600 per week will end.

Tribal Outreach

New Mexico launched a COVID-19 outreach program today geared at Native American communities and featuring cartoonist Ricardo Caté's work. According to a news release, the campaign will also use public service announcements on Native American radio stations; banners at water and food pick-up and testing areas; along with fliers distributed at each Native pueblos, tribe or nation.

The Dose of Reality campaign features numerous cartoons from the creator of "Without Reservation," employing the hashtag #StoodisNM, aka "Let's Do This."
