New Mexico COVID-19 Cases: 9,723

Health officials report 206 new cases and nine more deaths over the weekend

Over the weekend, New Mexico health officials announced 206 new positive COVID-19 test results: 102 on Saturday and 104 on Sunday. However, Sunday's numbers are incomplete due to "a recurring delay" from "some private labs to the state Department of Health," according to a news release from the governor's office. The statewide total thus far is now 9,723.

New cases over the weekend included 10 among people being held by federal agencies at the Otero County Processing Center, which now has 108 cases. There were also 14 new cases among New Mexico Corrections Department inmates at the Otero County Prison Facility, which now has 541 cases between people in federal and state custody.

Santa Fe County had five new cases reported on Saturday and now has 170 cases, 107 of which have been designated as recovered by the health department.

Statewide, as of today, 162 people are hospitalized and the health department has designated 4,114 people as recovered.*

The state also reported nine more deaths, five on Saturday and four on Sunday. New Mexico has now had 425 total fatalities. Four of those deaths were from McKinley County; three were from Bernalillo County and two were from San Juan County.

  • A female in her 50s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A female in her 70s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had no underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 50s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

  • A female in her 60s from McKinley County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
  • A male in his 80s from McKinley County who had underlying conditions and was a resident of the Red Rocks Care Center in Gallup.

Statewide cases

The state issued several corrections to previously announced numbers for statewide totals. Saturday corrections: Previously reported numbers included six cases that have been determined to be duplicates: four cases in Doña Ana County; one case in Grant County; and one case in McKinley County. Two cases were determined to be out-of-state residents: one case in McKinley County and one case in San Juan County. Previously reported numbers did not include one case that was thought to be an out-of-state resident that has since been identified as a New Mexico state resident and added to Bernalillo County. Sunday corrections: Previously reported numbers included one case in McKinley County that has been identified as a duplicate and one case in Otero County that was not lab confirmed.
