Two more deaths reported over the weekend; 130 cases designated as recovered

Over the weekend, state health officials announced a total of 132 new positive tests for COVID-19, bringing the state total to 624. The state has thus far performed 19,136 tests.
Ten new cases for Santa Fe County were reported over the weekend, bringing the total here to 62.
Two new deaths from the virus were announced, bringing the state’s fatalities to 12.

A total of 45 people have been hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19, a figure that may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized here, but does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.

And, as of today, the health department has designated 130 COVID-19 cases as having recovered.

The weekend breakdown is as follows, with current total statewide cases at the bottom of this report.

Saturday, April 4

On Saturday, New Mexico state health officials announced 51 additional positive tests for COVID-19:
  • 23 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 4 new cases in Cibola County
  • 1 new case in Lincoln County
  • 1 new case in Los Alamos County
  • 1 new case in McKinley County
  • 1 new case in Rio Arriba County
  • 2 new cases in Sandoval County
  • 9 new cases in San Juan County
  • 6 new cases in Santa Fe County
  • 3 new cases in Torrance County

On Saturday, the state also said that the case numbers it had announced on Friday, April 3 erroneously included three duplicates.

Saturday’s cases included additional positive tests from the La Vida Llena long-term care facility in Albuquerque, where five additional residents and eight additional staff members have now tested positive for COVID-19.
The Department of Health also reported one additional death on Saturday in New Mexico related to COVID-19: a male in his 60s from McKinley County who, who died on Saturday, was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.

Sunday, April 5

On Sunday, health officials announced 81 additional positive tests for COVID-19:

  • 21 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 2 new cases in Cibola County
  • 6 new cases in Doña Ana County
  • 1 new case in Los Alamos County
  • 9 new cases in McKinley County
  • 1 new case in Otero County
  • 34 new cases in Sandoval County
  • 4 new cases in Santa Fe County
  • 1 new case in Socorro County
  • 2 new cases in Valencia County

Today’s announced cases include additional positive tests from the La Vida Llena long-term care facility in Albuquerque, where one additional resident and two additional staff members have now tested positive for COVID-19.
