Meow Wolf Finally Announces 2019 Taos Vortex Lineup—And it’s a Stunner

George Clinton, CocoRosie and Iron & Wine to perform among many more

Despite freaking out a bunch of people by putting tickets on sale for its second annual Taos Vortex music festival a couple weeks back without announcing a single band—a common occurrence with bigger-name events, honestly, though we totally get why people were upset—arts mega-corp Meow Wolf has announced the fest's lineup at long last, and we have to admit it sounds pretty amazing.

Let us be the first to say the following: Holy shit! George Clinton!

Of course, we're also pretty down with Iron & Wine, Snail Mail, CocoRosie, Calexico and lots of others on the list, but the point is this: This is a pretty killer lineup and represents an even larger vision than last year's event which featured Dr. Dog, Flaming Lips and others. Meow Wolf also  plans to have plenty of multi-media visual and video and sonic arts on hand for revelers, camping, glamping, stuff to do in nearby Taos and, we're sure, some still-unannounced surprises.

At the time of last year's fest, former SFR staff writer Aaron Cantú had his doubts, and there were bad feelings about the festival's partners making use of teepees at the campground. Hopefully, or perhaps presumably, Meow Wolf has learned a lot in the time between then and now. Either way, early bird tickets sold out ages ago, but there are still plenty of other camping and non-camping tiers available.

Daily tickets and weekend packages run between $29 and $250, depending on age and the configuration of the tickets' access, plus fees for things like loading and unloading your car, if you're bringing an RV, etc. … There's always a fee.

But for real, though—George Clinton!
