Swiss Bakery Pastries & Bistro

Since its opening in January 2012, the Swiss Bakery has become a Guadalupe Street fixture—the breakfasty answer to the Cowgirl’s happy-hour dominance. Chef-owner Philippe Müller has remained true to his original vision of schweizer brunch fare, offering everything from muesli, crepes and assorted pastries to a tried-and-true favorite, the Santa Fe Swiss stuffed croissant (green chile, eggs, ham and Swiss cheese). But he’s also expanded on that vision with an inventive list of burger options, a pizza list and a wide-ranging dinner menu. Now serving wine and beer, the bright, airy restaurant and its sunny outdoor patio bear few traces of its predecessor, the beloved local bar Corazón. Stop in one morning, and you’ll see what all the hype’s about: flaky, crusty croissants and indulgent pain au chocolat line up in the pastry case, and the irresistible scent of breakfast done right—coffee, eggs, ham and cheese—fills the air.
