Santa Fe's food stories are some of our favorites to tell. Every year, the hungry staff of the Santa Fe Reporter and a trusty cadre of freelancers pursue the very best dishes on offer in the city, eating our way up the side streets and down the main drags for the weekly Wednesday edition and to help curate the annual Restaurant Guide.
Unless you've been under a rock, you know that 2020 has been off to a rocky start for culinary establishments and many other local businesses. We delayed the planned April publication date because state rules prohibited restaurants from having dine-in due to public health orders to stem the spread of COVID-19.
As of June 1, some of our favorites had reopened in accordance with rules on limited seating. Others planned to do so soon. And still some say they can't welcome customers again for the near future. We still included them among the list of our Top 5 and 15 Greats in the hopes that we can all visit soon!
As always, the content in our editorial coverage of restaurants, bars, chefs, trends and everything in between comes from writers who are eaters first. It's not for sale. Nevertheless, we hope diners consider our advertisers. We all thank you for reading and for eating.
