Since time machines are taking longer than promised, we’re stuck with historical reenactments. And sure, you can sneer, call reenactors what you want (middle-aged gamers, if you will), but they’re the ones standing between you and the American Revolution, the Civil War and yes, the Renaissance. And if I may get into character (ahem): Hear ye, hear ye! Queens, kings, harlots and brutes! It’s that time of year again (the sixth year, in fact), the fair that bringeth mead by the bucketful, fairy forests (!) and smoked turkey legs the size of your head. It’s the Renaissance, but better (without the blood-letting, typhoid and the Medicis). The fair’s got it all: jousting, furrowing cleavage and men in nylon. And of course, special guests Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand make their royal debut.
