The Santa Fe Children’s Museum closes its doors on Monday, April 18. But don’t worry: It will reopen on May 7, bigger and better than ever. SFR visited with recently hired Executive Director Anna Marie Tutera Manriquez and Deputy Director Jeff Dailey to learn what the expansion means for the city’s most curious and clamorous constituency.

As a child of the ’70s, I never had a chance to see Don Meredith play. I knew him when he'd reached a different sort of fame as a pitch man for Lipton Iced Tea, as an occasional actor and, most importantly, as the color man for the greatest team of sports announcers ever put together the 1970-1984 years of Monday Night Football.

Last month, SFR published a report of the top 10 companies that have Santa Fe connections and have received federal defense money. The No. 10 spot was awarded to Mesa Photonics But Mesa President David Bomse, while acknowledging the contracts, says he’s not a war-profiteer, and that his business “has been hurt by this war.”

Last week’s so-called drug raid on an Española-area school made national headlines when the bust netted tomatoes instead of marijuana. What the stories didn’t say is that the operation wasn’t just another example of America’s fruitless (tomatoes not withstanding) War on Drugs. It was also an example of Your Stimulus Dollars at Work.
