Ze French Bistro
Ze French Bistro has burst onto the scene with some help from chef Laurent Rea, formerly of the O’Keeffe Café. The menu is more than croissants and coffee––it's an expansive outpouring of classic French feel-good that is adored by locals and guests of Garrett's Desert Inn alike (the bistro is located on the street side of Garrett's). The seating copious, the decor aggressively haute and the patio is as fine a place as you'll find to while away some sunny hours with a cup and a book. The open-faced tartine sandwiches are grand and the selection of salads is worth discovering. The bistro also offers a host of quiches and pastries that round out a fully French spectrum. If you think a savory crêpe––a galette made with buckwheat flour––can't compete with a breakfast burrito as a hearty wake-up, chef Rea will gently lead you to the eye opening, stomach-stroking truth. Ze French Bistro may not yet be challenging Clafoutis for dominance of Santa Fe’s Francophile appetites, but it is, as of now, still marshalling its forces.
