Los Alamos Photography Club Show

by Robert Sobel
5:30-7 pm, Mar 04, 2013 | free

While SF tends to have a center-of-the-art-universe sheen to it—especially after Annie Leibovitz’ recent visit—it’s easy to look beyond the City Different for, well, something different. This week, look no further than neighboring Los Alamos, as the Mesa Public Library plays host to the Los Alamos Photography Club’s 18th annual show. “Our hope is that the public will appreciate the diversity of photography and recognize [that] good photography is not just a snapshot,” Doug Coombs, the show’s organizer, tells SFR. Like many of the show’s participants, Coombs confesses he “dabbled” with the idea of becoming a professional photographer, but never pursued it fully. The show gives an opportunity for expert exposure for pros and not-quite-professional photogs alike. (Ryan Collett)
