Big Screen Classics: Moonstruck

by Tor Travis
7 pm, Feb 14, 2013 | $5

Sure, we could use the Lensic’s Valentine’s Day showing of Moonstruck to take pot-shots at how Cher used to be able to express emotion; how Nicolas Cage used to be a gifted hunk; how the flick captures both of these two fabulous faces at their zenith of good looks and talent; how, soon after Moonstruck, the nation wondered what had ever happened—how the joy of celebrating the romance of Little Italy died or how we stopped caring about little things like love, our mamas and papas and pizza. But we won’t. We’re not going to mention these things. We’re going to tell you to go see this wonderful film at the Lensic on Valentine’s Day. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated Moonstruck for six awards, of which the movie won three. (Tor Travis)
