50 Watt Whale

8 pm, Sep 16, 2012 | No cover
{venue_title}

It’s difficult to cook up a good band name [music, July 18: “What’s in a Name?”], but that hurdle is far behind local pop-rock trio 50 Watt Whale.

With a style that resembles Pink Floyd learning not to take themselves so seriously and incorporating elements of acts like The Band, they’ve been performing in one way or another since 1985. And though the three core members make up the heart and soul of the Whale (did somebody say nickname?), it’s not uncommon to see special guests dropping in to lend support for the tremendous triumvirate.

50 Watt Whale probably won’t change the face of music as we know it, but all those who attend can look forward to a great night of catchy rock ’n’ roll numbers and some serious booty-shaking…and honestly, who doesn’t love booty shaking?
