Blue Alchemy

7 pm, Apr 26, 2012 | $8.50-$10

Blue Alchemy:  Stories of Indigo is about magic. That’s what the trailer says. But despite my initial suspicion that the film would tell the tale of supernatural children said to be forebears of an advanced human race, it’s about a shade of blue. You understand the confusion, living as we do in New Agey Santa Fe. Filmed in India, Japan, Bangladesh, Mexico, El Salvador, Nigeria and the US, Blue Alchemy connects the history and production of indigo with the color’s social-spiritual implications, beginning with the awareness that we live on a blue planet. (Matthew Irwin)
