Former SFR Classified Advertising Representative Jenny Luna is having a going-away part of sorts—after the going-away party she already had. When she’s not masterfully overseeing back page ads, Jenny-of-all-trades Luna is a skilled multi-instrumental musician and singer.

Luna’s band Avenue East, which has only been together since January, focuses on traditional Macedonian and Turkish music, and is made up of Luna (accordion, percussion and voice), Nick Kunz (tambura) and Alysha Shaw (percussion, voice). For Luna’s final show in Santa Fe, Avenue East teams up with experimental poppy-country-Americana duo Todd and the Fox, the musical brainchild of Todd Eric Lovato, formerly of funk act Felonious Groove Foundation.

Then, on July 24, Luna hits the road to expand her musical opportunities in New York City. “It’s ridiculously hard to get Balkan gigs at bars in town,” she says of Santa Fe, “so I thought I’d move somewhere where there’s more of that.” She describes her music as “weird, but in a cool way,” so catch it before she’s gone.
