Santa Feans protest Israeli "apartheid"

By Alexa Schirtzinger
DSC04074 "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Israeli apartheid has got to go!" the crowd of protesters chanted outside the federal building in Santa Fe today. "What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!"
--
The group was organized, at least in part, by the nonprofit Another Jewish Voice to protest Israel's May 31 raid on ships carrying aid bound for Gaza (read about the flotilla raid's aftermath here and here). Carrying signs that condemned Israel's 3-year blockade of Gaza and US military aid to Israel, approximately 40 Santa Feans picketed today at noon.

A rep from the local Amnesty International chapter led the chants and exhorted protesters to rebut some of the recent pro-Israel opinions published in the New Mexican. All in all, it was a good, old-fashioned peaceful picket—which takes some doing, given the issue's volatility. Even the police didn't seem to have much complaint, aside from telling a guy to get down from a retaining wall. See more photos at sfreeper.com.

Great - some more "useful idiots" providing support to the Islamic terrorists and terrorist sympathizers that organized the "Ship of Fools" in the first place.  Why do Americans and Europeans who consider themselves to be liberal, show such unabashed love for the most barbaric, violent religion on the planet?

I believe that supporting the existence and safety of Israel does not require abusing and violating the human rights of another ethnic group. Not all Palestinians are Muslim, there are Christians and Agnostics ...and not all are terrorists! Some Israeli soldiers have committed horrible atrocities but that doesn't mean all Israelis are terrorists! This debate is rarely rational but sadly the poor and less powerful end up loosing. It's time to rationally discuss a fair solution respecting the rights of everyone.
