“Max was an incredible artist of many sorts,” W21’s Ana Maria Gallegos y Reinhardt tells SFR. “He was very creative in music, writing, painting and recording; he was a real asset.”
On Friday, the arts scene that he came to love bands together for a special memorial show at W21. Expect performances by D Numbers and Flamingo Pink! among many others.
“He’s gonna be missed by many in this community, intensely,” Gallegos y Reinhardt continues, recalling a particular nickname Friedenberg earned during his tenure at the teen arts hub. “We used to call him ‘Mad Max’ because he was always so hyper-energy—he would get things done.”
Along with the stellar musical lineup, a silent auction including items and services ranging from guitar lessons to a chef’s dinner by SFR contributor Rob DeWalt, will be at hand. All proceeds from the night are set to benefit Friedenberg’s 6-year-old daughter, Maya. Come on, Santa Fe. Let’s get it done.
