The Santa Fe Police Department wants your help in identifying a mysterious former Santa Fe police chief.

Apparently the photo, above, was found in SFPD's evidence department this week and authorities don't know who it is.

"An old black and white photo was discovered in the department’s evidence basement this week, and we would like to identify the man, give to the photo to his family and tell the chief’s story," writes SFPD spokeswoman Celina Westervelt. "We believe the photo was taken in the 1940s, and it’s likely it hung at some point in the halls of the department."

Anyone who recognizes the man in the photo is asked to call Westervelt at 505-955-5075.
