Public Education Department Investigating 'Threatening' Phone Message

Security is at the Montoya Building today

Private security guards on contract with the Public Education Department were at the building this morning investigating a threatening phone message left overnight, according to an email sent to PED staff today from Education Secretary Designate Hanna Skandera.

"We are working with appropriate law enforcement officials and looking into the call and understand it to be an isolated incident," Skandera writes in the email, which was obtained by SFR.

The private security guards will remain in the building for the rest of the day, according to the email.

SFR observed the security vehicle, pictured above, parked at the Jerry Apodaca Building around 10:45 a.m. Staffers in Skandera's office told SFR they were in a conference and would get back to us later.
