"By the authority vested in me by the church and finally by the state of New Mexico, I pronounce you a married couple" Rev. Hollis Walker said this morning as she wed Kim Kiel and Rose Griego, one of two couples that filed a lawsuit earlier this year seeking equal marriage rights statewide.

Griego and Kiel decided to make it official after they attended a hearing yesterday during which Bernalillo County District Court Judge Alan Malott ruled that denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples is "unconstitutional and unenforceable."

According to Erika F Romerorecorder at the Santa Fe County Clerk's Officeas of 8:20 am today 161 local couples have applied for a marriage license and 105 of those have gotten married.
