Weekly Word: David Coss and Patti Bushee

Coss to step down as mayor, Bushee strongly considers running to replace him

May 3, 2013, 11:00 am
By Joey Peters

This week, the Weekly Word podcast speaks to Santa Fe Mayor David Coss about his decision not to seek a third term and City Councilor Patti Bushee about her potential run to replace him.

After two terms, Coss made the announcement yesterday that he will not seek a third term next spring, leaving the seat for the Santa Fe mayor's office open. Coss discusses some of his pet projects, including the city's living wage, as well as what it's like to serve in a weak mayor system

Many names quickly started floating for potential Coss successors, including longtime and popular City Councilor Patti Bushee. We talk with Bushee, who's strongly considering a run for mayor, about her decision of whether to throw her hat into the ring. We also discuss her previous failed bid at mayor and the similarities and differences between a David Coss administration and a Patti Bushee administration.
