Upside Drown Announces NM Show

Oakland indie band benefits El Rito Library

upsidedrown Two things struggling to find their place in today's world—live music and public libraries—are working symbiotically this weekend in El Rito.

Oakland indie duo Upside Drown has volunteered to perform at the El Rito Library (County Road 215, El Rito, 581-4608) on Saturday Feb. 9, as a result of having fallen in love with the community library on a previous visit.

The 6 pm show will collect suggested donations of $7-$10 to benefit the library, a nonprofit organization that subsists on grants, not government funding.

The event offers a great excuse to experience the scenic drive up to Abiquiu. Also, the Valentine's Day theme offers a good warmup to next week's festivities.
