Weekly Word: All About the ABQ Police Controversy

By Matthew Reichbach
weeklyword

This week on the Weekly Word, we spoke to the Albuquerque Journal’s Jeff Proctor about the Department of Justice investigation into the Albuquerque Police Department.

Proctor has been reporting on the alleged civil rights abuses that have led to the investigation for years. These include 26 shootings since 2010; of these 26 shootings, APD have shot 24 people and killed 17. We also discussed some beatings of suspects by APD officers.

Proctor laid out what led us to the point where a DOJ investigation is necessary and what the possible repercussions of such an investigation can be.
