In my write-up of the Zechs Marquise/As In We show, I mention being unsure of how the band managed to get booked at Warehouse 21.
A few phone calls cleared up the matter. Friday night's show is the result of a concerted effort by Matthew Slaughter, a local fan of Zechs Marquise. Annoyed when the band's August show at the Launchpad was cut short, Slaughter approached members of the band with the idea of coming to Santa Fe expressly to play an uninterrupted
two-hour set. Though on break after an extensive European tour to promote their newest album
Getting Paid, they were impressed by his appreciation of their music and agreed.
Slaughter has never booked or promoted a show before. He is hoping that ticket sales will manage to defray the cost of bringing in the band, but admits that it's a gamble. To support his venture, you can buy discounted tickets through anarose@warehouse21.org, or by contacting opening band As In We. You can also email me (music@sfreporter.com) for contact info of additional ticket providers.
Why Warehouse 21? Slaughter wanted the show to be all ages and the focus to be on the music, and W21 was willing to cooperate. Who knows—if his experiment pays off, maybe Slaughter will be paving the way for a new model where fans take a more active role in bringing their favorite bands to town.
Doors open at 7 pm; As In We at 8 pm; Zechs Marquise at 10 pm

thanks Matthew Slaughter! the As In We / Zechs Marquise show was one of the best concerts i've seen in quite some time.
