This Saturday, the local nonprofit Virtual Dinner Guest Project hosts a meal connecting Santa Feans with Pakistani diners.
Eric Maddox, who heads the Virtual Dinner Guest Project (read his SFR cover story about the first virtual dinner, with residents of Ciudad Juárez, here), sends this message:
Join recent SPREAD finalist Eric Maddox for his upcoming Virtual Dinner with Karachi, Pakistan. This Saturday at 7:30pm at Zane Bennett Contemporary Art. Break bread and share live conversation with some of the people who are living in the shadow of US foreign policy. The event will also be a fundraiser for Eric's upcoming trip to Beirut and Cairo, to connect US venues with the voices of the Arab revolutions. Food provided by Epazote. Donations recommended. More info at The Virtual Dinner Guest Project on FB.
Maddox' project, founded on the premise that by eating together, people of different ideologies and cultures can resolve a lot of their differences by seeing each other as people, hosts dinners in Santa Fe and connects them, via Skype, to simultaneous dinners in other countries. So far, virtual dinners have been held with Mexico and Uganda.
