McCain/Palin 2008/2012

HBO film takes politics back in time

In a sight for sore liberal eyes, the McCain/Palin campaign took over Cathedral Park Monday, June 13. Actually a plumped-up Ed Harris (as John McCain) led a rally there for HBO film Game Change about the ill-fated 2008 Republican campaign.

HBO announced June 6 it would be shooting the film in New Mexico.

The  film is based on the John Heilemann and Mark Halperin book, which gives an insider view of the divisive 2008 campaign, using interviews of more than 300 people involved.

Monday's scene showcased the talents of Harris, whose McCain impression was so good, when he declared he'd be the next president, you were sure he'd lose.

Other actors in the all-star cast include Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Woody Harrelson as campaign strategist Steve Schmidt, Peter MacNicol as campaign manager Rick Davis and Melissa Farman as pro-lifer/reality TV star Bristol Palin.

The rally also featured the requisite mob of McCain/Palin and racist signs.

Dear HBO, if you're going to re-create incendiary 2008 signs (Half-breed muslin, anyone?) be sure to make them a little crazier and a lot more misspelled.
