Former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano was arrested at 2 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 19, and is being held at Santa Fe County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
Solano is charged with 251 counts of embezzlement and one count of fraud. If convicted on all counts, he could face 250 years in prison.
Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler confirmed that Solano had used the proceeds of Santa Fe County items he sold on ebay for gambling purposes.
The estimated total value of the goods Solano allegedly embezzled from Santa Fe County is $60,000. The arrest occurred approximately two months after state police received a tip about Solano's activities.

GOOD PEOPLE DO BAD THINGS ALL THE TIME HOPE HE HAS A CHANCE TO REDEEM HIMSELF
I don' condone what He did, and hope he has to

his service

On the TV video The D.A. says some of the money was used for gambling your story says he sold the items for gambling purposes. You are not reporting accurately as you have been doing a lot lately.
Ricardo, DA Chandler did indeed say that Solano used the money for gambling, and we reported that Chandler said so. The following day we were able to speak with former Sheriff Solano, who reputed those allegations, which we also reported: http://www.sfreporter.com/santafe/blog-2629-solano-da-making-a-career-off-my-case.html
