For some people, particularly those who were suffocating from the fog-like smoke of last week's prescribed burn, this sign could have made sense. For those who weren't downtown amid the smolder, this signage was cryptic and fear-inciting, in keeping with Santa Fe's sign MO.

Can you point to the fire? Oh, no? What about the smoke? Nope, just fear-mongering.
