#MMJ: 10 More Days to Comment on Proposed Regs for Medical Cannabis Program

Anyone interested in commenting on the DOH's proposed regulations for the state's medical cannabis program will have 10 more days to do so, a hearing officer said today.

---

Today, SFR squeezed into an utterly packed auditorium at the Department of Health's Runnels auditorium to hear discussion on the proposed regulations for the New Mexico medical cannabis program. There were boos, hisses, laughter and lots of applause—pretty much the appropriate response, considering some of the changes contained in the proposed regs. (Check 'em out in detail here.)

The stars of the public comment period included Democratic state Sen. Cisco McSorley and Drug Policy Alliance founder and executive director Ethan Nadelmann, who spoke eloquently about the need for more public involvement and less DOH discretion in the new rules.

We'll have more updates on this to come, but for now, anyone wishing to comment on the proposed regulations will have until October 10 to do so.

Comments may be submitted by email to medical.cannabis@state.nm.us or by mail to Medical Cannabis Program, 1190 St. Francis Drive Suite S-1310, Santa Fe, NM 87502.
