Elder Abuse, By the (Real) Numbers

Witten_Blackboard  Two weeks ago, SFR published an article about elder abuse, neglect and exploitation in Santa Fe County—or rather about our myriad difficulties getting information on said crimes, due both to a blanket privacy law governing the state's Adult Protective Services program and to inaccurate numbers provided by the state's Aging and Long-Term Services Department. ALTSD didn't respond with correct information by press time, but we have it now: The real numbers behind elder exploitation in Santa Fe.

Below you'll find an updated document from ALTSD. Below that are the numbers ALTSD provided in July, in response to the same public records request. SFR later found out that the numbers ALTSD first provided include all adults in Santa Fe County, not just people over 65.
