Conci Althouse Fundraiser at Warehouse 21

An aspiring Santa Fe filmmaker making it big

By Drew Lenihan
ConciAlthouse One of our own is about to blow up! Come support Santa Fe’s most promising young filmmaker, Conci Bergere Kenney Althouse, at a silent action with music and hors d’oeuvres 5 pm this Thursday June 24 at  at Warehouse 21.

A 2007 graduate of Monte del Sol Charter School and a Santa Fe native, Althouse is trying to muster the funds to attend the prestigious American Film Institute in Los Angeles, Calif.  Artists from around the country have donated pieces of fine art to the silent action; amazing photography, silver and metal work, and blown glass will be a highlight.  All the proceeds will go to the cost of Althouse’s tuition at the American Film Institute.

At the age of 20, Althouse is the youngest applicant to be accepted to the institute and is one of Santa Fe’s great young talents.  Althouse has already directed two feature films with her independent film company, Sane Asylum Productions, both of which were accepted to the Santa Fe Film Festival and numerous other festivals.

An indie film purist, Conci believes in the power of the narrative in film and thinks the medium of narrative fiction “exposes issues and content that show heart,” and seeks to “give back humanity to film by revitalizing the independent era.”

Setting goals high for herself, Althouse is on a mission change the standards of the film industry by showing that a great final project can be produced on low budgets and to wipe out the notion that a big budget means a great movie.  Join her and to support local filmmakers achieve their visions of new cinema!
