Gov. Bruce King, RIP

By Julia Goldberg
Former Gov. Bruce King's death was announced just a short while ago this morning. In a press release, his son, Attorney General Gary King, had these remarks:

"BruBruce & Alice Kingce King would be the first one to tell us all that death is just another phase in the cycle of life and that we must go on with our lives trying to do the best we can while helping others make their way too. None of us in the family thought this day would come so soon after we lost my mom Alice King, but we are comforted by the thought that Bruce and Alice can be together once again."

The release also notes that the King asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New Mexico Children's Foundation.
King wrote what remains, in my view, the best book on New Mexico politics, Cowboy in the Roundhouse, which I reviewed so long ago I can't even begin to find the review on my computer or online. The book should really be republished, now, in paperback and be required reading for anyone interested in New Mexico politics or history.
