Another Reason Why Domestic Violence Continues

By Corey Pein
KQRE reports: "Deming cop in domestic violence probe."

Obviously, it doesn't help when the people who are supposed to arrest wife-beaters are beating their wives (although, the details are too vague at this point to say that's the case here.)

At least there's an investigation at all.

One wonders why State Police Investigators haven't released the name of the accused. One hopes it's not because he's a fellow law enforcement officer.

The KQRE story doesn't say whether the officer is on leave pending the investigation, or still on duty—something Deming citizens have a right to know. It does say no arrests were made.

This is a ways outside our coverage area, but hopefully the Headlight stays on the story. After this week's cover story on a horrific family murder in Santa Fe, we'll be following the domestic violence issue closely.
