Still A Chance For NNSA In Stimulus Bill?

As reported

yesterday and

today,

someone

in Congress removed $900 million for the National Nuclear Security Administration—read: big New Mexico employer—from the federal stimulus bill. But who?

"I don't know that we'll ever find out," says Jude McCartin, spokesperson for US Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM).

McCartin hesitates to confirm that the NNSA money has actually, for sure, been nixed

. "We still haven't seen the final document," McCartin says.

Hm...Could the NNSA money be in the bill under another name? "There's a case where school construction doesn't have a line item, but it's been made part of another program. I don't think that's the case with this," McCartin says.
