Jan 29, 2008: A moment in the journey of HB 285, to abolish capital punishment in New Mexico. The bill's sponsor, Rep. Gail Chasey, D-Bernalillo, bows her head as the New Mexico District Attorney's Association voices its opposition to the bill before the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee.

HB 285 passed the committee 5-2.
